Originally from Boston, MA, I moved to Hudson, Florida in 2013 after retiring from Verizon Communications, formerly New England Telephone, following 36 years of service.
I got my Amateur Radio Technician license in April 2022 and upgraded to General in September 2022. In September 2026, I upgraded to Amateur Extra.
I joined the Gulf Coast Amateur Radio Club (GCARC) in June 2022.
Amateur radio has become a great way for me to combine radio, technology, and the outdoors — especially through Parks on the Air (POTA).
My home station is set up for HF and VHF/UHF operations. It gives me the flexibility to enjoy DX, local nets, and stay connected with the amateur radio community.
My portable gear is lightweight, versatile, and ready for Parks on the Air (POTA) activations and other outdoor adventures.
Parks on the Air (POTA) is an amateur radio activity that gets operators out of the shack and into parks, where they set up portable stations and make contacts with other amateur radio operators around the world.
For me, POTA brings together the things I enjoy most about amateur radio — portable operating, technology, the outdoors, and the fun of making contacts from some great Florida parks.
POTA has become one of my favorite parts of amateur radio. It gives me a chance to get outdoors, operate from some incredible parks, and make contacts with fellow hams from around the world.
Whether it’s a quick activation close to home or a road trip to a new park, every outing is a new adventure.

Florida has amazing state parks, but some of my favorite parks are National Parks and historic sites. I recently went on a 13 Colony POTA rove where I activated Yorktown Battlefield, Valley Forge, and Minute Man National Historical Park!
